It sounded like the beginning to a bad sitcom that song.

"ah yes Dad, do you mean those times when Jehovah made those mistakes and errors?"
by stuckinarut2 inso...while chatting with my ultra "spiritual elder" father on the phone this afternoon, i couldn't resist using that line!.
i had sent him that video of the recent convention showing brothers and sisters dancing to the "kingdom song" and waving their illuminated phones and arms in the air like some sort of revival church concert.
(perhaps someone can post that link to that thread again here?).

Analysis of 2017 vs 2016 Yearbook reports for Europe
by Splash inso these countries roughly constitute europe.. here's how well they did in 2017 vs 2016:.
2017 peak pubs.
2016 peak pubs.

"peak pubs" is really not an accurate way to even look at this. What I find most interesting, is that they completely abandon the avg publishers stat by country.
It can't be good.

Flat earth vs round earth
by Jrjw inmy brother has been talking about the earth being flat and some big conspiracy going on to make people beieve otherwise.
what are people's thoughts on this?.

Flat Earth is God-level trolling.
This is so true. I am always amazed at the amount of time and effort this must cost those dedicated to it. they could easily have gotten a degree or understood astronomy and physics "for real" with just a percentage of the trolling dedication. I feel like there is a sociology study somewhere in here.
There is something very odd about the people that can "anything can happen" just about any event or theory. A friend told me the other day he doesn't believe North Korea is all that bad specifically because the media says it is. My response is that "thousands have escaped and have similar stories, hundreds of thousands of people from various countries observe the rouge state n various ways because they are considered dangerous, reporters have been in and out and gotted snapshots of life there telling the story.......you are suggesting that all of these fine people are in ona big joke, and the media has some sort of vested interest in the outcome. You believe this why?"
Response: "Well I just don't think that things are always as they seem".
**facepalm**

Higher Education
by Brian J injust spent 8 hours in a 1 day elders school last weekend.
clarification given: "moving forward any elder, ms, or pioneer who themselves or someone under their roof enrolls in higher education, may no longer qualify for privileges in the congregation.
their qualifications will have to be reviewed by their boe.".

There seems to be a double standard here depending on the country. I can speak for the US specifically, because here is where I grew up. To varying degrees, higher education is frowned upon. I was a good teenage JW, who told the counselor (much to her chagrin), that I was not going to go to college. I was doing the right thing.
Now I have friends in the UK and Sweden. They went to University no problem. No real issue. It was almost expected. Could it be because university in these places is paid for by the state, sort of like k-12 here in the US?
That is really the only reason for it that i can come up with.

If Trump is Impeached...the alternative is Pence ...
by tor1500 init's me again...with the question, if trump is impeached, the alternative is pence....well, it's not really a question but your thoughts...... who is he ?

As much as I can't stand Trump, I certainly don't think he is going anywhere, short of a real smoking gun. But Pence is an absolute crazy right wing Christian conservative that would govern by his faith primarily.
In my mind, Pence would be more likely to push a conservative agenda and have success. But he is more of a seasoned politician, so its I think less likely he taunts a nuclear dictator into WW3.
So plus and minus on both sides. But in the end...Pence........I don't agree with him on much, but he would be MUCH less embarrassing.

I hope this is just a joke, because when reading this board, I thought this was'nt suppose to happen

What Makes Someone Become a JW?
by minimus inmy excuse is that i was born in the religion.
but if someone wasn’t, why would they become one?.
-

Well......I would say community for one. If you aren't in a crazy person hall, it can be quite nice. Ready made friends, little things to do. Its a ready made community.
Second i would say its EASY to excel. If you can place a couple phrases one after the other, you qualify to be a scholar basically.
Third I would say that that since their is plenty of hypocricy in Christianity, that they offer an alternative (seemingly less hypocritical from the surface), and the happily ever after appeal of living on earth forever in a life that you know and is familiar to you now.

Wasn't AAWA a group of some of the best and brightest? Why is it solely on Cedars that people were outed. I can't imagine that was intended. Honestly, I have a FB account and it seems pretty clear that isn't the easiest place to be anonymous.
Anyways, I don't want to resurrect the AWAA thing. Its a shame it didn't work out. All those people working together would have really been nice.

I don't get the Cedars hate either. We are all different and varying degrees of authentic. I'm sure everyone here has a % of asshole in them. In the end, he is doing quite abit to help people wake up. Randy and James and Ray did....then people like Simon from this site, Grundy and JWfacts which is a standard bearer, now its Cedars and an online community.
We don't have to always agree. That is sort of the beauty of being out.

Jesus Christ people. Let the guy write it. if anyone is using their time and effort to continue to work on projects exposing the watchtower, who the hell cares if you think it might or might not have been done before? Who cares if you get the impression the person is blowing their own trumpet. If they are blowing their own trumpet.....who cares?
If you don't want to help. Why not just kick rocks onto the next topic instead of being so bucket/crablike.
Pomo, have you tried their main website? Lots of links to explore as well.
